upon the loss of pen

discarded two-timed elegy
for newness & dust that covers
ages & movements.

close to eye & close to
paper

the weight of a dead postcard is
upturned; pages like arms at sea,
bodies to sea like scattered
paper,
twice its weight in water too green to know,
too grey to float.
we fly, loveless colour & lost vessels--hopeless crate of heart.

signed papers underwater--they scrawl & bite
rapture: drowned, encased in
high rise & blindness.
a timeless voice, hoarse tide & whisper.
